Review: Thinx Period Proof Underwear

Hi! First, let me apologize for the long absence on this platform. I don’t really have some elaborate excuse, just wasn’t feeling inspired to write about anything. But today, I wanted to share my experience with Thinx underwear. Thinx is period-proof undies that can be used to replace your feminine products, or used with as extra protection, all depending on your flow. They are made with leak-resistant and anti-microbial fabric. You can find more details about the technology on their website. I’ve been curious about these for a while, but the price always threw me off. They run about $38USD. They had a 30% off sale on Memorial Day, so I decided to take the plunge. But does it work? I’ve worn them twice and here is my experience.

I decided to go with the high-waisted brief. Because when I’m bloated on my period, more tummy coverage is a bonus. This pair claims to hold 2 tampons worth and is to be used for heavy days. I am on the birth control pill, so luckily, my flow is light – medium. My heaviest day is day 2, so I put these bad boys on and went about my day. First few hours, I barely noticed anything at all. I felt completely dry and honestly almost forgot I was on my period at all. They are also pretty comfortable. I definitely agree with the 2 tampons worth claim. I typically go through 3-4 tampons on my heavy days, and about 8-9 hours into it, I felt it was time to use a real tampon. However, there were still NO LEAKS. I could tell, just like a pad or tampon, that they were full and it was time for more protection.

I hand washed my undies, let them dry and tried them again on the night of day 4. I HATE sleeping in tampons, it feels like I shouldn’t be wearing one for that long. Also, I hate pads altogether. So wearing these undies overnight is what I was most exciting for. I slept about 8 hours, again this was a lighter day, and woke up with NO LEAKS. NO MESS. I am so impressed. I didn’t feel gross.

Are they for you?

If you have light-medium flow like myself, they can be worn alone without issue. If you have a heavy flow, I also think this are for you. Most with heavy flows are already doubling-up (pad and tampon) so these are a great way to add an extra layer of protection.

What are the downsides?

I would still like to see the price lower, however they do work as stated and the material is high quality. The only real negative is that they have to be hand washed which is slightly annoying to me, but not the end of the world.

I highly recommend trying out this brand and their products. You can purchase on their website, What are your go to period products? Let me know!
