Review: Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer

IMG_3287

Urban Decay recently launched the much-hyped All Night Concealer and I wanted to share my thoughts. It is supposedly a rival for the now cult-favorite, Tarte Shape Tape.

Claims:

  • Waterproof
  • Full Coverage
  • Lasts 24 hours
  • Flawless Matte Finish

While I agree with the full coverage and matte finish claims, I honestly hated this. Personally, I have dry under eyes. I use eye cream, but any drying products or harsh products can make my under eye look cakey. This was the case with this concealer. It didn’t look terrible right after application, but by the end of the day my under-eye area looked like the Sahara desert. I wish I had taken a photo, but I was so annoyed I returned it immediately.

Another draw back to this concealer is the shade range. It comes in 14 shades, which appear would work for a range of skin tones. However, they OXIDIZE like crazy! I initially ordered shade “light-neutral” online and had to exchange it because it was so orange. I then bought shade fair-neural, which was really too light but not as orange. I’m pretty pale, but don’t typically have issues finding my shade. So I know if this is a problem for me, it is likely a problem for others.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend purchasing this concealer at all. I prefer something like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, or if Tarte Shape Tape works for you, stick with it.

HARD PASS.

Did you try this concealer? Let me know your thoughts!

  1. Oh no. I really despise oxidation because the extent of it varies for different people. I bought a BB cream that people loved and heard nothing of oxidation… Until I tried it and it went orange! It sucks especially if the product is expensive. X

  2. This is a similar formulation to the all nigher foundation. In the naked skin concealer, I believe I was light-warm or light-neutral. In this, I am fair-neutral and when it dries down, it goes to the correct shade.
As well, I recommend using an eye cream under it to hydrate!
