Drugstore Spotlight: Sonia Kashuk

Since I have been *trying* to go cruelty-free, the hardest part is trying to find drugstore brands that don’t test on animals, and there aren’t many.

If you’re like me, you have an obsession with shopping at Target. Sonia Kashuk is a cruelty-free drugstore brand sold exclusively at Target. I have tried some of their brushes and a couple of products in the past, but I recently decided to try some more.

This brand is slightly more expensive than some drugstore brands, but not much.. it is still pretty damn affordable.

I picked up the Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation:

This retails for $12.99. This foundation claims to have a “matte but not flat” finish and to be medium to full coverage. I’ve been wearing this foundation for the last week and I am so impressed! Honestly, this is the best drugstore foundation I have ever tried and is even better than some of the high end ones I’ve tried. It is super long wearing and stays matte all day! I don’t even have to touch up once. If you have super oily skin, you may have to blot once throughout the day but thats it. It is definitely medium coverage, which I prefer anyways. The only critique I have for this product is the shade range, it only comes in five shades so it was hard to find the right match.

Brightening Powder:

I’ve been looking for a new powder to set my under eye concealer, so I went with this. HOLY SHIT is this stuff amazing! I use my beauty blender to apply it and it helps make the concealer last all day without creasing! I usually have an issue with my concealer fading throughout the day, and this stuff really prevents that! It also brightens up that area as described. I will continue to purchase this! It retails for $10.99.

Velvet Matte Lip Pencil:

I picked up the shades Mulberry Nude and Poppy. These retail for $7.50. I love these as well. They are a soft matte and are very pigmented. They aren’t super long wearing, but you only have to reapply once after eating so really not that bad, especially for the price. They actually remind me a lot of the Nars matte pencils.

All in all, I am so impressed with this brand and these products and can’t wait to try more from Sonia Kashuk. If you have tried something from this brand that you recommend me testing out, please let me know as always!
